§ 1. General Provisions

  1. These Terms of Service ('Regulations') govern the use of the online literary portal available at readerscompass.ca ('Platform'), operated by Reader's Compass Literary Portal Inc. ('Service Provider').
  2. These Regulations define the rights and obligations of Users, as well as the rights and obligations of the Service Provider in connection with the services provided through the Platform.
  3. By accessing or using the Platform, you ('User') agree to be bound by these Regulations. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Platform.
  4. The content provided on the Platform, including all text, graphics, and other material, is the intellectual property of the Service Provider and is protected by copyright law.

§ 2. Definitions

  • Platform – The online literary portal operated by the Service Provider at the domain readerscompass.ca.
  • User – Any natural person who uses the Platform, whether they have a registered account or not.
  • Account – A personal profile created by a User upon registration, allowing access to specific features of the Platform.
  • Services – The digital content and functionalities offered by the Service Provider through the Platform, including free and paid subscription plans.
  • Regulations – This document, the Terms of Service.

§ 3. Type and Scope of Services Provided

  1. The Service Provider offers access to digital content related to literature, including but not limited to book reviews, author interviews, and articles. Services are provided in the form of free access with limitations and paid subscription plans with full access.
  2. Registration of a free Account allows the User to access certain features, such as bookmarking articles and receiving a newsletter.
  3. A paid subscription grants the User unlimited access to all content on the Platform for the duration of the subscription period.
  4. The scope of features and content available under each plan is detailed in the 'Pricing' section of the Platform.

§ 4. Technical Requirements

  1. To use the Platform, the User must have a device with access to the internet and a modern web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) with JavaScript and cookies enabled.
  2. The Service Provider is not responsible for any disruptions, including interruptions in service, caused by force majeure, unauthorized third-party actions, or incompatibility of the Platform with the User's technical infrastructure.
  3. The User is responsible for ensuring their device and software meet these requirements.

§ 5. Rights and Obligations of the User

  1. The User agrees to use the Platform in accordance with applicable law, these Regulations, and good practices.
  2. The User is prohibited from providing unlawful content, including content that is defamatory, offensive, or infringes on the rights of third parties.
  3. The User is solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their Account password and for all activities that occur under their Account. The User agrees to notify the Service Provider immediately of any unauthorized use of their Account.
  4. All content on the Platform is for personal, non-commercial use only. The User may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from the content without the express written permission of the Service Provider.
  5. Users with paid subscriptions are responsible for timely payment of subscription fees. Failure to pay may result in suspension or termination of access to premium Services.

§ 6. Final Provisions

  1. The Service Provider reserves the right to amend these Regulations at any time. Users will be notified of any significant changes. Continued use of the Platform after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new Regulations.
  2. Any disputes arising from the provision of Services shall be resolved by the competent court for the registered office of the Service Provider.
